Shiral is a volunteer on the planning committee for NAMI Walk, a trained volunteer support group facilitator, and a team captain for NAMI Walk. She raises funds for NAMI year-round so they can continue to provide advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Her mission is also to encourage people to fight the stigma associated with this illness by educating them through conversations.
Shiral, her family, and friends have participated in “Nami Walk” since 2015 raising over $1500.00 to date.
NAMI provides FREE resources and support to individuals suffering from mental illness, and the people in their lives. NAMI's Family-to-Family is a free class that offers education about mental illness, coping skills, and how to become advocates for afflicted family members.

Here are a few things I do to help the environment
Every year on Earth Day (April 22), to reduce her carbon footprint, Shiral excludes something from her life that is harmful to the environment. To name a few, in 1994 she excluded take-out containers when dining out. Instead of asking for a doggy bag, she carries with her reusable containers for left over food. Take-out containers are wasteful and the amount even just one person can use in a lifetime has the potential to build up a lot of trash; imagine how much waste comes from an entire planet that uses them. In 1984, she excluded styrofoam because of the destruction it does to the ozone layer and it doesn't biodegrade in our landfills. She committed to not purchase or use any products that use styrofoam along with products that use excess packaging. So many companies offer their products with a bulk of unnecessary packaging. She boycotts these companies by shopping for items that use minimal amounts of packaging.
What can you do to help reduce your carbon footprint?
